Can you fire subs and ports down to the floor

I Have four tens my question is can you fire both ports and subs down. And also if so how much clearance do you need for the subs or ports.

ive been in a truck with 2 L7s and ports firing down and it sounded good. Loud too for that truck.

Well if the ports are firing down, then there would be no air flow out of them. Wouldn't it do the same thing as sealing the port off?

Well no, not at all, the box is lifted off the ground leaving clearance for the driver and port. About an inch should be sufficient unless you are running a sub with a good amount of xmax. Downfiring isn't always great for subs that aren't designed for it due to gravitys affect on their suspension. But you should probably be ok.

i built a ht box with the subs/port firing down...i just made the height from the floor to the port the same as the port width...my buddy is VERY happy with the performance

I would think its absolutely fine if it's got that much clearance. It's like a home theater sub. down fire a bit ch

It will work but you really would want the diameter of the ports clearance, so if you have a 3 inch port you want 3 inches but you can get away with less but performance will suffer a tad bit. If it were me I'd fire the ports out the sides to the doors or backwards or forwards, that way they could completely do their job.
