ok so i have a run of 4 awg wire from my batt to my trunk. i currently am running whats in my sig about 700 watts total on it between subs and components.

now i have that 4 guage split into 2 8 guage runs that are about a ft and a half long, on the sub amp there is a 4 guage groudn and on comp amp its a 8 gage ground.

now if i upgrade to a 1606d with a claimed 1600 watts and run it at 1 ohm i assume the 8 guage will burn right? even if its short? should i upgrade distro block to one with a 4 in 4 out anf 8 out?

ya i would

i cant really go to 1/0 at the moment, i will soon after i pay off the debt, will 4 be fine for a while?

gonna be pushing to rl-p 12's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

well, i guess it will have to do then wont it? LoL, but it should be ok for a while, it wont deliver the current u need most likely though

ha yea i guess, once i buy some 1/0 ill do big 3 with my 4

hmm gotta upgrade the 8 - 4 , might just get a 4 - 8 converter for now so when i upgrade to 1/0 i can run 4 to my amp with 8 input and have the 4 to 8 converter //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

will a 4 guage terminal that reduced to 8 be bad? like i use a run of 4 fromt hat block to amp, but on the end of wire it has one of those reducers so it goes into the 8 guage hole? wont effect anything will it? i can re use it too on my amp once i upgrade to 1/0 and have a block that breaks down into 1/0 to 4

im about to order everything so any help would be greatly appreciated

Please just do yourself (and us) a favor and wait until you have the money to do this project right.

You're asking us if its ok to jerry-rig your system. I can't believe people are actually saying "yes". My answer is "NO".

how is 4 guage jerry rigging it? i highly doubt i wil excede 140 amps with the setup. and even if i do, i dont even have a 140 amp fuse i will just pop a fuse.... im sorry but i have no idea what you are talking about nor how tha in nay way it is jerry rigging it, i could see if i wanted to run some 12 guage speaker wire as my power and ask if i doubled it and used both strands if it be the same as some 1/0 but im not. im asking a simple question of will some 4 awg wire be able to handle it.

4 gauge: ~140 amperes

yes people say this, but how, if i am not exceding amps that the wire can take how will it melt the wire and or the fuse/holder, the fuse should just blow and then the wire would just be dead. but i guess fuses dont work the way they should
