Can my Sony XM-1s power a kicker 10cvr124?

You shouldn't be worried what it can do at 4 ohm you should be worried about what i can at 2. And that amp is good for around 500 @ 2 ohm so you should be fine. I love the small footprint of that Sony too.

But the impedance of the sub is 4 ohms?
yes, but it has DUAL voice coils.

That makes your wiring options either 2 ohms:

or 8 ohms:

With a 400w sub I'd definitely go with the 2 ohm wiring option, getting ~500w out of the amp. A reduced gain setting (and no bass boost) should keep your sub perfectly safe.

If you go with 8 ohms you'd only get 150w or so.
