can it happen

i know i need some type of converter but I still don't fully understand what i need and what needs to be done to do it right and safely. Pictures of what i need would be fantastic. thanks alot for any help. also how do amperes work.

The only type of high power converter I can think of would be a battery charger for like a car. Allthough this would work, your also gonna notice if you do this that the ouput from the battery charger is gonna look something like like a lake with 80 mph winds. The output is extremely unclean and rippled to the point that its almost useless, and I dont know if you can hook it up to a battery to try and filter the uneveness out of it like a capacitor does.

if you hooked up some diodes in line with the bat. charger and the amp it would clean the signal.... lol gettin complicated. i would just use a car battery and recharge it whenever i wasnt listening to the system.

i also dont think slipknot knows what hes talkin about.

:

"w/ a power converter yes but i seriously doubt you will have enough amperes to power a moderate amp"

get a ac/dc convertor

so 120v ac in, 12v dc out

i actually made one back in highschool

plug into the wall and u get +/- clips for the dc out, thign was pretty sweet till i lost it ahahah

hook it up and see hwo much juice u get

ive hooked up decks off 120v ac-->12v dc to see if they work and they did

also hooked up amp/subs but was long time ago so i cant remember wat they sounded like

Heh, well I just done an aol search for high current dc power supplies. Even got one company that supplied 0-5000 amp 12.5v dc power supplies, they were the size of cars but hell, thats alot of power. I found some more reasonable ones though. Found a digital 13.8v regulated switching power supply that could provide 40 amps cont. for only 299.
