Can it be done?

I was wondering if it is possible to install more speakers into a single cab truck like mine - 95 Ford F-150.

The system sounds great, I just wish is was louder and Im not getting alot of sound from two speakers.

I am thinking about buying some better speakers to go with my system, but while Im at it, I was wondering if there is any room in the door panel to cut another hole for one more speaker on each side for a total of four speakers in the truck.

The installer would most likely charge alot for this hassle, but first I wanna know if its realistic or not.

Thanks in advance //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

My system - Pioneer 6400 headunit, 2 MTX 10'' Roadmasters, 620 Watt Logic Amp.

Here is a picture of a 1995 Ford F-150 door, not mine, but exact replica. Think there's room? Or should I upgrade Amp or Subs, or something else first?

How much do you have to spend?

You're system could use a full overhaul. The headunit ain't bad, it could stay.

Everything else...speakers, amplifiers, and subwoofers, could stand to be upgraded //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

If you can tell us how much you can spend, we could probably figure something out.

But personally, if you are still using stock speakers, I would upgrade the speakers and externally amplify them first.

But if you can afford it (depends on your budget), we might be able to get everything done in one shot.

Yeah, I am going to upgrade my speakers first, then my amp, then woofers.

The speakers aren't stock says the guy that I bought it from, but Idk.

What are speakers you guys would recommend, 6x9's or what?

I guess I can only put 2 in the truck doors, unless you guys think 4 could possibly go somewhere in a single cab truck.

I am willing to spend up to about 250$ for speakers, which is more than enough I am hoping.

This is my first system, starting with this and working on up, I know there is alot of improvement to be made.

$250 is more than enough for speakers...but you WILL want to use an amplifier on them.

If $250 is your budget, I would say spend ~$150 on a decent set of budget-oriented components, and $100 on a decent budget-oriented amplifier to power them.

A decent set of comps and a decent amplifier should produce enough output to fill a truck cabin (or most any vehicle, for that matter).

No more speakers should be necessary. Should allow you to have the output you want, with good sound quality to boot.

Though to optimize the performance of the speakers, you will want to save up some more money and purchase sound deadening materials (read the sticky at the top of this section regarding proper sound deaden of doors).

So I should buy another amp to power just the speakers? Or buy a nice 4 way amp to run power to my woofers and speakers, is that possible?

Now that I am searching for speakers, I see that some come with mini amps to power themselves which is great.

Absolutely.

You'll realize much better performance using an external amplifier rather than the headunit's internal amplifier.

Sure.

Run the front 2 channels to the speakers, and bridge the rear channels to the sub(s).

The downside to this route is that most 4-channel amplifiers that offer substantial power output are fairly expensive. That and most (not all, but most) can not be ran below 2ohm per channel (4ohms bridged)...which limits your options as far as subwoofers are concerned...since I'm presuming that a subwoofer upgrade is in your future aswell.

No speakers come with mini amps to power them.

I'm guessing you are looking at component sets, and are noticing the passive crossovers that come with them. These are not mini amplifiers for the speakers...all the passive crossover does is split the frequencies from the amplifier between the mid and tweeter.

You will still need to externally amplify them (i.e. purchase an amplifier)
