Can I save my hdc3?

I recently reconed my one of my hdc3's and I knew it was a matter of time till the next one went from bein clipped to hell....hahaha. I have not pulled the sub yet, but the sound is only made once I get to around volume 30, on my one older sub. So once the sub finally starts to move alot. But it sounds like somethin is loose, or hitting the dustcab. The coils do not seem to be rubbing. Maybe suspension. What do you think? Maybe I can fix it temp. It just sound like a bad rattle or smackin on the dustcap or somethin.?

I hooked my meter to my amp and a constant ohm load could not be read?

can I save it...why is the noise bein made?

gonna be my 4th recone:crap:

Subs roasted. Recone it and enjoy it without the clipping issue.
I have yet to kill a coil. That had to be a nasty signal for extended periods to kill it. LOL
copper coil......and a year of beatin on it, with some smell occasionally. No longer clipping tho, thank god I solved that

I dont hear the coil rubbing tho? even when pushed down

Copper coils will take just as much as Aluminum. Aluminums just lighter.

If you can't get a reading on the coils they're shot. I'll take a vid in am of the subs in my car right now. They are shot, spiders are ripped right out of them. They still bang but you can hear the rub even though you can't feel it.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

sounds dope man...I'm wonderin if the spiders or any of the supsension is jacked....I can still play them loud as ****...but the ohm load might be fckin with the amp:confused:

Ya really would do yourself justice by pulling that sub before it kills the other one. With unreadable coils it could mean bad news to your amp and adjoining sub. Better to be safe.

Not like me:laugh:

The sound could be the leads came unglued from the cone under the dust cap.
his dmm can't lie, blown coil....

yeah this will be my 4th recone...and a recone esp on these are a cake walk.....once I clean the basket, shim it out, and glue....after about 15 min...vuala

just make sure the coil is shimmed tight all around evenly, that the hardest part...and thats easy

you have to pull the speaker leads from the amp....the amp will give you a fluctuation in ohm load....only way to tell is to disconnect those leads then test them....DUH:rolleyes:
