Can I put a different tweeter with my comp set?

My tweeter blew in my pg rsd comps. Can i buy another pair of a different brand tweeters and install them to my rsd crossovers?

well i just wanted to make sure.. i bought the comp set and the tweets never worked..im impatient so i dont really want to wait for the warranty if it takes too long...what tweeters would you reccomend...i want silk domes.. im running 150 watts a side via a memphis mc-16-2004 bridged

They aren't. Active just kicks them in the *** in terms of flexibility.

As for replacement tweets, I'd recommend something like a Vifa silk dome or LPG 25NFA...both competent tweets that you can use later if you decide to go active.

Not really. Thats why active rocks. A lot more control.

It won't be optimized for the different tweeter. There is more to consider than just the xover frequency. Impedance curves, phase, rolloff slopes, etc. Active is the way to go if you are going to be mixing and matching components.

Usually, a professionally designed crossover is made for the tweeter it comes with. Another tweeter will work, but you might have a peak or a dip in the response, so it might not sound as good.

yea it sucks.. i just bought the comp set..and the tweeters only worked for about a day...but..i installed a mdf baffle and it caullked in and all that good stuff.. the company I bought it from said they will take them back but they want teh complete set back.. so id have no music in the front and who knows how long it would take to get them back...so i think im gonna just get some tweeter...i can get a pair of massive (audio ct-1's for real cheap) and see how they sound...if they sound real terrible ill just buy a new comp set...nice tweeters are almost as expensive as a whole comp set anyways.
