Can I keep my amp with these speakers?

I'm sort of a noob, and I really need help. I have been blowing speakers the past 6 or so years (about 1 speaker every 2 years), I think from underpowering them. I am bad with ohms but each speaker is running off of one terminal so I think its at 4 ohms. If the rear speakers need 110, and the fronts need 55, what do I do as far as power? Because I can't direct an amount of power to each speaker as I see fit. Do I keep my amp or get a new one? Or for the same price get a different set of speakers for the front or something? Help me out...

My amp is: MTX Thunder4320

• 40 watts x 4 into a 4 OHM load with less than .1% THD.

• 80 watts x 4 into a 2 OHM load with less than .3% THD.

• 160 Watts bridged x 2 into a 4 Ohm load with less than .3% THD.

If you are sending 40 watts to those speakers you should be fine. I am guessing you are blowing them because you are sending frequencies to low (under 80 Hz) to the speakers or are sending a clipped signal (gains set too high).

most likely you are turning the gain too high and sending a clipped signal.....set gains with a dmm and you will be fine!

Just keep the amp you got and don't crank up the volume or the gains trying to make up for a lack of power. You can't blow a speaker by under powering it. Set the gains with a DMM unless you feel comfortable enough to do it by ear. If you can't get it loud enough with the proper gain setting's then pick up a bigger amp.

Hmm I will check the gains to see where they are at.. but I know the frequencies are turned all the way up. Is it better to send 40 to each or should I go 80?

What does the gain knob actually do? I mean no matter where the knob is set, the same amount of power is going to each speaker right?

no...the gain knob is for matching amp output to hu voltage out...if the gain is turned down, then you will be getting very little wattage..if you turn it up you get more power until you exceed the amps range, which is when you begin clipping

-Do you have a sub stage and what does that consist of?
