ok i really havent paid attention to this very much before, and i really dont know too much about ohms.... but i am thinking of getting a 12w6v2 which is dvc and i am told it can run on 8ohm or 2ohm... but since i am only getting one and running it on a jl 500/1 amp, can i get this sub to go at 4 ohm... and if not what is an alternative?

that sub will work fine with taht amp..

run it parallel at 2 ohms, and you willg et 500 watts....

JL thought that through with their amps, which is one thing that impressed me about their amps...

i'm assuming you have dual 4 since you can get it down to 2ohm or 8ohm. if you're going to run the JL 500/1..then you don't need to worry about it. the R.I.P systemw detect the impedence and set the rail voltage according to what it see and will put out the same power from 1.5-4ohm. just wire it down to 2ohm and you'll be fine. also the lower the impedence, the more power you'll see (its been benched test proven, but only slight increase)
