Can I get my box to work well ported temporarily until I get a better sub?

Hey thanks for the help with the other thread, but I was wondering, can I get my current box (.77 CF) to work with my existing sub and just install a port to get better sound? I looked at the manufacturer specs for the sub and it says a ported enclosure should be 1.06 CF with a 2.59"X4.7" port. Can I run a different port to get better sound from my smaller enclosure? I have read the port has to match the box not the sub but I could be misunderstood, what Hz should I tune it to? 40?

Thanks again, I am trying to out do my friend with a lot more money than me or at least keep up!

how will you "magically" grow the box to over 1cube? You could add an external aeroport, but the box is still too small...

Well that was my question, can this box be ported to work better than it does sealed, but maybe not perfect? I thought there were ways to determine a port for a given box?

smaller box + higher tuning = loud(sometimes)

seems to be the route of some spl competitors.

it'll sound like crap most likely, keep this in mind. Plus with that small a volume, the sub will most-likely lock up from lack of usable airspace

not a great idea.... box is toooooo small you would get a super peaky sounds like crap fart box

HIGHLY recommend against porting that box!!

that is tiny for a ported box. not a good idea.
