can i get clipping from a jl 1000 1 with a 12 w7

ouput mode is on out filter

filter slope is 12

filter freq is 40

filter mode is lp

insfasonic filter is off

insfasonic freq is 30

q is 1.6

center freq is 55 boost is 0

bass eq is off

mode slope is 12 filter freq is 80

input voltage is high output polarity is reversed

i think i just figured out y it was so low i went into my eq on my headunit n my low is all the way down can u help me with the eq settings

theres a setting for 50hz which sound low then theres 100 and 200 which are louder

then theres a slope .7 to 2.0 and then the actual bass i have it on -6 goes up to +6 if u kno what i shud set this to thanks

set bass @ zero, set cross-over @100, and 2.0...... get a dmm and set your output voltage to the subs, the amp should auto-adjust power, if it's the one i'm thinking of. also, since you can only support 70a, which is likely 20-30% duty cycle and lower voltage, then you may give your sub wiring a once-over and see if you can wire it up to a higher load, and still get decent power (anything over 500 at that ohm load) in my experience with those amps, you will have more output if you don't try to over-draw the supply power. i have 165a stock alt, and i can realistically only support 1200-1300wrms before tapping into the battery reserves, though a short surge of power from the battery would be around 10x that, though at real low voltage, so it does not really count as useable system power.

One thing first. If it is too quiet at half gain, you're likely doing something wrong. Turning the gain up doesn't just make it louder, it introduces more distortion, and a clipped signal to the subwoofer, which will fry your very expensive woofer. If you wanna get louder, easier, I told you what to do.

And if I'm reading your settings correctly, it looks like your frequency filter that you listed first, is your low pass filter... and it is set at 40hz. And the infrasonic is set at 30hz. While the infrasonic is fine, with your low pass filter (LPF) set at 40hz, you're giving your amp a 10hz frequency range to play. Try turning your LPF up to 80hz, and see how the sub goes from there.

That sub is so going to get smoked haha, I bet the coils are fried a little already. OP you need to understand that when you get a high enough output amplifier it's no longer just a matter of size of wire. Now you're into a whole nother ballgame I recommend at the very least getting a high quality battery and doing the big 3 upgrade. You probally do need a HO alternator to get the most clean power you can out of that amp. That amp uses a lot of power and if not steadily supplied that much power, the amp will compensate (or you will try to compensate with settings on the hu like subwoofer +db and loudness.) Both things that will add distortion to your subwoofer signal. This distortion will eventually overtime or maybe even right away blow your woofer by taking it past it's thermal limits. That subwoofer can probally handle all the clean power that amp can throw at it, but no subwoofer will stand up to dirty power or power with a lot of distortion.
Now if you do not have the proper electrical setup to handle that amp I highly recommend keeping the gain down low. Even with a stock power supply you can probally safely turn gain to around 20% or so. You need a DMM or a sound ear to properly set the gain for the amp.
Power is power CHU. Dirty power Clean power, the coil doesnt know the difference.

just brought it to a car audio shop n thy said they done even use a dss to do the gains so idk

When I started out I went to a shop like that. Tuned by ear/ set settings accordingly (aka set it till it distorts then turn it down a little before distortion). I bet you would never guess what happened because they're "experts." The amp fried. I went back with a new amp. Guess what happened? The sub fried.

Read posted links OP and stop acting helpless; it'll screw you over if you don't listen/read/attempt to understand. The links are there to help.

one more thing theres a setting in my hu for my sub lpf and level the level goes 1-8 and the lpf by hz can b eather off 55hz 85hz 120 any ideas??
It varies from application to application, but I have never had occasion to use (or want to use) a crossover point as low as 55Hz.

I would try both 85 and 120 with various music I like and see which I prefer. (You can try 55Hz too, but I doubt you will like it.)

If it works like every deck I've used with a sub output, it adjusts the sub-out level. When setting the gain on the JL amp, leave it at 8 (or whatever max is).
