OK, my head unit has a button for the SUB can I just have the SUB wired to the unit and control the SUB from there. I mean I know it would be hard to control multipule SUBS from the unit but what about just one SUB? Ok then let me ask about, if I have 2-3 SUBS?

What is the true reason for having an AMP when it's only going to power the SUBS and nothing else?

the button on your HU is prob to turn that preout on or to give you options to tune it. youll need an amp to power to sub, most HU only put out around 20w. almost all subs need more then that (all subs need mre then that to sound good!) so to anwser your ? you will need a(n) amp(s) for your sub(s). hope this helps!

The true reason for having an amp on your sub, and only your sub is so that you can basically hear it. The more power you put to it the louder it gets. I could go into more complex detail, but I think I'll just leave it simple.

No Amp = No Sub : Amp = Audible Sub

one time i had some subs wired off the rear speakers in an old car we just used to mess with all the time. let me tell ya...they knocked! HA! Just kidding....

yeah back in the days , I would hook up freakin house tower speaker in my ride and it made bass. cheesy bass but hey ,what people did not know did not hurt them, I would hook them up of the rear speaker too.

a friend of mine had this 83 volvo wagon that we used to pimp around the town back in the days that had no radio so we spliced a power-inverter into the cigarette lighter and hooked up an aiwa boom box system with a sub in it. ha, we were the coolest kids on the block.

Nope doesn't quite work like that. What head unit do you have? LMK and I'll see if we can find out what exactly the button does.

Subs need ALOT of power to reproduce the lower frequencies. Sub-bass requires more power to reproduce than anything else //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Well since I need an AMP do I have to run an AMP for each SUB?

If I use 1 or 2 8's?
No sir you can get just one amp to power both of the subs. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
