Can anyone suggest a good head unit to play mp3s from usb and ipods? i do not need a cd player.

I currently have an Alpine IDA-X100 that I bought a few years ago but never got around to hooking up. I am looking for a newer replacement that has a better user interface, etc.

Well I am not saying I won't like it, I just figured a lot better has come out since I bought it. the unit originally came out in 2008, so I figured in 4 years there must be better?

What is your budget? Chances are you are better off just getting something with cd or dvd anyways cause it'll cost the same and have the same features.

I have a mint kenwood kdc-x891 that is great and does usb fine and I have the ipod module for it also. the new kenwoods may have a few new things (in this case bluetooth) but the sound quality is not the same neither is the build.

just saying. new is not always better. they make them cheap now..and that matters.

Consider Sony DSX-s310btx. It has time alignment and bluetooth phone support. The Pioneer DEH-80PRS should be overall a better stereo though, because of its crossovers, auto tune and independent equalizer.
