Crossovers

I've been thinking about this, and searching everywhere.

Should I leave the amp settings at right over the intended crossover (100hz if I want the lpf at 80hz on the amp), and set the crossover at 80hz on the head unit?

I feel like I am losing alot of my music by having the amp crossed at 80hz, and my HU at 80hz too.

What are you losing? Some people cross the subs at 50.

You can turn one or the other off altogether. Usually the amp has finer control (variable) so turn the HU LPF off if you can. Otherwise set the amp as high as it goes and use the HU only.

Having the head unit crossover set like that is sending a pre-filtered signal to the amplifier, which is then further attenuating the signal. This is why you feel like you're missing out, because it's cutting off your bass. Do what maylar suggested.
