Can anyone make me a Test Tone?

Well when you think about, music is usually recorded around there (-5.6 DB to be exact), and when you set your gains on your amp, the suggestion is to use a -3 or 0 DB tone.

If you don't ever play anything that it close to what you set your gain (ie. you don't compete or don't ever use -3 or 0 DB tracks), I think you could have a better reactive setting on the amp and can more acurately set the gain for listening to music. Maybe my thoughts are off but.....

Plus, I want to see what the differences in voltage would be between different volume levels and gain settings on the amp.

Got 'ya!

The 1.41 multiplier is representative of the square root of 2, which is in turn the calculated equivalent to a 3 DB increase.

So if you use a -3 test tone, you would use the 1.41 multiplier, if using a 0 DB test tone, you would use 2.82 as your multiplier.

I REALLY think this is much more accurate than just setting a max volume level, throwing a 0 DB tone at it and then setting the gain.

I assume with most of you, as with me, when you listen to music you don't want to have to turn up the volume to max level you set your gains at to get your fullfillment of bass. And when you set the gain at a high volume level using a test tone that you most likely never see, you restrict your max amperage at a much lower volume level hence having to turn up the volume to the level you set your gains at.

I learnded somes knowledges today!!!!
