Can a Sony Amp XM-GTR2022 run an Alpine - 12" Type-R?

If you can take the amp back I would. But that's just me. You could get something better with a little research.

Yeah I would but I got it on sale at Circuit City and they don't exist anymore.

Thanks. What does it mean when it says bridged? Does it mean it is using both channels?
Where would you get the sub cheaper?

I was looking at the Rockford Fosgate P3 and the Alpine Type-R which are both around the same price on BestBuy around $200. Both are 12" and have a Duel Voice Coil.
you could get these subs cheap online than getting them at best buy..trust me way cheaper

Someone told me that the Type-R is a DVC-4-ohm sub, which means it can be wired at either 2-ohms or 8-ohms and the amp I have is not stable at 2-ohms bridged and doesn't produce enough power at 8-ohms. Is this true? And what will happen if i do hook it up?

If you are going with only 1 sub on the sony amp listed... it must be a Dual 2 ohm sub or a single 4 ohm sub. (if you want to get full power from the amp)

If you are going with 2 subs on the sony amp listed... they must both be Dual 4 ohm subs or single 2 or 8 ohm subs. (if you want to get full power from the amp)

go to rockfordfosgate.com and check out the woofer wiring wizard, it will help explain how to wire them. Also check out bcae1.com, it is a great website for anyone to learn more about car audio in general (or advanced).//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
