Can a lawyer make the police give out the names of the confidential informant?

No way no how. I mean if people could find out who informants were then why would anyone ever become one??? I know here snitches get $150 per setup they make. Not bad money if you setup 3-4 people a week. OP just tell friend karma is real and it always comes back around.

I asked my brother to see, he said it actually depends on how the police wrote the paper work. He said 90% of the time it is filled out the wrong way and lawyers can/will get the names and other info.

If the officers have the CI do a buy or whatever... that informant does not have to come to the stand and if they did it right, can make it look like the CI was not a CI at all. Rather, that they simply caught a drug deal on tape.... or whatever the situation may be. This happens a lot, but CI's would all be dead and nobody else would come forward if they had to "testify". Usually the evidence is so overwhelming the defendant pleads guilty anyways.

I see, yeah he probably had it coming but they found nothing in his house(he wasn't even there, cops busted his door down), took his Xanax pills and his pistol(which is registered and legal) so he's pissed that they came in, flipped his house upside down just to find pretty much nothing. They said they found "traces of marijuana" but man, you can find "traces" of cocaine on most 20~100 dollar bills.
