Can a capacitor change sound?

my buddy said when he turned his voltage up it sounded weird, maybe it was in his head, anyways i just installed mine before d-block so it powers both amps and it reads at what the car is running for voltage so i should leave it there.

well this is up there as the most retarded thread.

yes it can. it was actually designed for SQ purposes. sometimes, your electrical system will be slow to supply your amp with current on heavy bass notes, usually a 1 second delay, so a cap can discaharge quickly, and make that note smooth vs. muddy. now i suppose that is what you mean by change sound, and it's still debatable if caps even do that, and furthermore this is all in regards to stiffening capacitors. unless you are taking about capacitors used in passive xovers....

Debatable??

That theory might hold true if the listener is a sound analysis computer program -- to a person - absolutely not.

If they made a difference you'd see demo cars at every SQ comp set up to a/b them, and sell them like hot cakes. The fact is, even the mfg's know there's not an audible difference, so you never see those types of tests.
