Can a 500.1 really be causing dimming on a 150 amp alternator?

I have a 2006 Trailblazer with a 150 amp alternator, and Im experiencing some pretty noticable light dimming when the bass hits (powering 3 10" mtxs for the time being...) The amp is a JL 500.1

I have not done the "big 3" upgrade yet, but should I really need to with only a 500 watt amp? The stock ground appears to be about an 8 Gauge from battery to alt,frame and motor ground...

I have 4 ga positive to the amp, and 4ga ground from the amp

My alpine MRP-M500 dimmed my lights like insane. My AQ 1200D doesn't dim my lights at all. Some amps are just current hogs.

because jay ells the watts are more efficient, 1 jay ell watt is equal to 2 regular watts.

Sounds to me like your "150 amp alt" and your batt ****

The normal TB alt should be 140 and an SS is 150. But they're legit, my Kenwood 500 wrms dimmed my lights more than my AP

Hey Monsonwarrior, yours doesnt dim with stock alternator?

thinking that with little power on tap people are clipping causing the dimming

jl amps are pretty efficient. sounds like another issue

what ohm load? most amps pull alot more current at real low loads.
