Can a 500.1 really be causing dimming on a 150 amp alternator?

I have a 2006 Trailblazer with a 150 amp alternator, and Im experiencing some pretty noticable light dimming when the bass hits (powering 3 10" mtxs for the time being...) The amp is a JL 500.1

I have not done the "big 3" upgrade yet, but should I really need to with only a 500 watt amp? The stock ground appears to be about an 8 Gauge from battery to alt, frame and motor ground...

I have 4 ga positive to the amp, and 4ga ground from the amp
