Camera Recomendations..

Okay well every store i went to or called is out of SD630's and have the new canon models (sd1000 , sd750is..) so i was looking for some recomendations for digital cams.

i was looking at the sd1000 but the feel isnt all that great. and the a570 is a lil bulky but has a better , more solid feel to it.

what im looking for is a cam that is under $300 , 6.1+MP though not NEEDED , solid feel ( if i were to drop it i dont want it to shatter) with good or better than average movie and photo taking capabilities.

itll be just for messing around , taking pics of wildlife , people and maybe events. just an all around good camera. i was stuck on canon sd630 for a while but i wouldnt mind something else like an olympus or nikon.

i would recomend the cannon, it is a very solid camera, also i would look into a casio, i know its a kind of an unknown camera brand but i have one, and i its so small, its 7.2MP and is very userfriendly, it has a great antishake mode and is a very all around good camera. if i dont feel like hauling around my DSLR i take my casio.

Have you considered the Canon S3 IS? It is a great walkaround camera AND it has image stabilization! It is a great camera.

any cannon in your price range will be worth it. in cosumer reports casio was right behind cannon for a alot less money. the only problem i've found about sony is the fact that you have to use all sony accesories, but my sony has lasted a good 4 years with no problem.

reason i was stuck on em , cause everyone i know has one and they seem to be great. its just the new lines theyre coming out with seem cheaply made. i was set on picking up a sd630 but i was slow to pull the trigger and now i need one.

now that im looking at specs , the canon A570is looks great. image stablization , processing. but im no photographer by any means , i just want a nice camera.

DSLR or bust!

i KNEW that was coming. once im ballin' enough and have photo taking skills , ill pick up a dslr. but untill then ill stick with a point n shoot type camera.

also , as far as battery types. which should i concider? my last camera was a kodak 2.1 mp when digi cams hit the scene hard in like 99-00' and it had took disposable lithium batts, and they were expencive. but when they died i just threw another set in and continued shooting. the rechargable worth it?

okay well i just goit back from best buy. and after an interesting talk with one of their associates , i picked up an open box Canon A570IS. all its missing is the book and the software.

he was telling me that since its an open box , if i were to return it within my 14-day period , i will not get a restocking fee. also with the open box , you supposed to get a $40 gift card. i got $50. i like being a nice customer. just an FYI for those shopping there.

so after a night fooling around with it , its a great lil cam. im no photographer by any means, but coming from an old kodak 2.1mp with 2x zoom , its great. im still trying to figure out half the features.

question - how many of you guys got the exyended warranty with thier cam? i have 14 days to go back and get it...should i?

also, any good photography sites or forums?

i have a fuji v10. it records at 640x480 30fps and takes excellent pictures

the 3" lcd is also very bright and you can play games on it. i like the puzzle game where it rearranges your picture and you have to move the squares around to put the pieces back in order

I recommend a Canon Powershot A95. Very great starters camera. Really great features/options, swivel face lcd. I want one and will get one in the feature. It's a older model though.

it is a replacement warranty. and i still have a week or so to get it. covers things the manf. warrnty doesnt. like spills , drops etc..

i think im going to get it when im up that way again..
