Calling AQ experts. Does this look ok? Tuning?

Hi guys,

doing an install for two 15" HDC3s firing up, ports to the rear, in a hatchback.

I have limited space and have two 6" Aeroport which are 17" in lenth I believe.

I know Im on the smaller side with space but was wondering if this looks ok.

Also, if I use both ports side-by-side, and keep them at 17" in lenth, then what

would I be tuned at?

outer dimentions are 34x32x15 plus probably another 3/4" on top to double baffle

Feel free to crticize etc. on what I should change.

However, thats the max. amount of space I have and Id like to at least

experiemnt one time with both 15's together and see if I like it

thanks!!

From my experience, AQ's like bigger boxes, similar to DD. It depends on what you are trying to do. Music/tones, what type of music etc...

Yeah, I know they should be in bigger boxes. Im not entering SPL or anything but Id like it to play as low and deep as possible. Rap, hip-hop, dance, the usual basshead music. I think after displacement, it leaves around a little over 6cu.ft

Looks like you've got about 6.75ft^3 with a 33-34hz tuning. Not bad, but a little on the small side for those subs.
Thanks for the help! So should I make the 17" aeroports shorter for tuning purposes? and what diameter bracing should I use? I seen some boxes with 1" dowel

ok. So Ill leave the ports as is, 17" in lenth. But I dont want to lose extra space with too much bracing. Sould I use cross bracing with dowel rods or bottom-to-top with a single piece of 2x4 or something of that nature since the weight of two 15's is a lot ? Thx again

lol aq/dd's like small boxes, and high port. Not the other way around like every one seems to think.
double lol. I have NEVER had success with aq/dd subs in daily set ups in small enclosures. Smallest I've ever had success with was 2 15's in 7.75^3 net in a trunk car. Didn't play low all that well and metered around a 48 legal.

OP I'd do a single 18 with that amount of room, I think you'd be MUCH happier...

Hopefully your idea of not playing that low would satisfy me considering I have never heard that many systems over the years to compare against as Im sure you have. Or I could be greatly disappointed haha

Would you think running two AQ HDC3 12's in the same exact size box with the same ports give a low better down low and hit harder than two 15's given less than required space in that same box? Thanks!

2 12's would do well in 4.5 -5^3 net, or you could do a single 18. Tune either set up around 35Hz and you should be happy.

I run a single HDC18 in 6cubes in my daily driver, very musical and loud enough.

@ mlstrass.. so would having a box with external dimensions of 34x32x15 and using 6" precision aeroports, be too big for two HDC3 12's ?

Currently my two precision ports are 6" x 17", still uncut/uninstalled

Thanks

how many cubic feet is that? minus subs/port displacement?

7.74cu.ft minus .40 for the two subs minus .76 for the two 6" aeroports

Because I believe a 6x17" aeroport is about .38

Not sure if it totally accurate
