I have to crank my volume all the way to 55 or more and it's still not all that loud. Wondering if others have to do the same or if I need to figure out why it's like that?

and you are running a 4ch???? either the sttings on you're h/u... or a filter of some sort is on..... mine is loud at 25!!!! and loud as phuck at 40!!!!!

I think it might be the digital gain for my alpine amp. I only have the option of 2v, 2.5v, 4v and 8v.

Could be, I think the 980bt puts out 5v, so set it on the 8v selection and then set the amp to the volume of about 3/4 or less on your head unit
