Calling all computer people: upgrading RAM

THE WHOLE THING!!!
Well, it's been a long time coming, but I'm finally going to upgrade the RAM of my slow *** desktop.

Currently it only has 256, and it really shows when I'm trying to do more than one thing at a time. My motherboard can only handle 1 gig, so I'm getting 2x512 sticks.

Going off neweggs stats, corsair seems like the best value/performance and has TONS of good reviews.

This is the set i'm looking at:

Any opinions? It seems that every brand has their haters/lovers, but corsair BY FAR has the most reviews. Corsair, crucial, kingston, etc. are all in the same price range, so I'm not concerned with that.

I'm looking more at performance, longetivity, etc. They also all have a lifetime warranty.

Basically, i'm looking for any opinions on brands and whatnot.

any brand with a lifetime warranty
running at stock speeds ram either works or it doesnt
Thats what the reviews said pretty much too.

The reason i'm leaning towards the corsair is because they just have a TON more reviews. Obviously you're going to have a few bad sets, every brand has that.

Any reason you're going with 1gig? Can your machine handle 2? I think the performance difference would be good, and you can find some used DDR 2g sets pretty cheap. PM me if you want and I can help ya out... and no, I'm not selling mine. I just sold my DDR1. So I'm not trying to make a sale. :p

Dude...How do you even download **** with 256 of RAM? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif
Im Fvckin dazzled ur computers still running after Y2K //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
We got it the first time no need to repost again.

i may be wrong..but i was always told 2 sticks of smaller ram is better than 1 stick of the bigger ram..something about dual channel
That's what I was told as well.

My motherboard can only handle 1 gig total, so that's what I have to go with.

And yeah, i'm surprised it's lasted this long as well. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

computers can last for ages.

go with what the computer can handle. 1 gig will be a noticable difference when installed, but also depends on your processor. in a sence you can unbalance the computer. wouldnt' really harm anything but ya know it's like having a super high end top of the line graphics card running with a single 256mb ram on a 1.0ghz processor. you can have killer graphics. but the comp will still **** in general.

but really. 1 gig will do you good.

or just start planning on upgrading the whole comp?
