So apparently there is a petition to do away with the front license plate requirement law. I doubt it will ever pass because well...this is CA, but I took a second and "signed it". I can't stand front plates messing up the aesthetics of a nice front bumper, that and the fricken holes in the bumper afterwards...Here's the link:

I have my front plate off right now and have for a while and still have not been pulled over. It may be the fact that the town I live in outside of Seattle is a navy town and half the people here moved from florida etc. and still have only one plate so it doesn't look odd having a plate or not here.

I have mine off too, and haven't been harassed yet. But the Mustangs have a fricken recess in the bumper for the plate, so with the wholes it just looks like crap. The Cobra bumpers don't have it though, so I'm eventually going to swap for a 99-01 Cobra bumper.

Plus the fact that i have never once seen a cop on whidbey island is probably a plus. That being said, I don't frequent the other side (Oak Harbor) because my cabin is by Clinton/Langley. I have a good view of it across the water though.

Nice my God Parents live in Clinton. Yeah down south on the island I never have seen a cop either. In Oak Harbor you have to drive about 2 hours just to find a cop driving most of the time unless it's real late. Clinton would be a nice place to have a cabin, it is secluded but isn't a redneck paradise.

I don't think cops really give a shit.

However, if I see anyone without a front license plate I'm putting your *** under citizens arrest.

My friend of mine always gets pulled over for minor things in his car just because it's a 64 Impala with hydros and a huge cop magnet with the paint. He got pulled over for the plate but that is the only person I know of getting pulled over.

My plan is to just tell cops it is because my bumper is new and I'm waiting on my license plate holder. I used to have my plate( sig pic) but it looked too good without a front plate

In CA, the CHP will pull you over for ANYthing. Also depends on your car^. If they think you have illegal aftermarket crap on your car, all not having a plate does is give them a reason to search your car...
