Cali gun owners

Who here lives in Cali and owns a gun and knows the laws pretty well? I'll be PCS'ing there in November and want to buy a handgun. **** like what happened in CO has convinced me to get me a pistol cause had someone in there had a pistol, not as many people would have been hurt/killed. I want to have a concealed carry permit and I am active duty military and will not be a Cali resident. Any help with paperwork required would be awesome so that I can start on it all now ahead of time. I'll be living in San Luis Obispo if that makes any difference.

I know Cali doesn't recognize most carry permits from any other state, and it's **** near impossible to get one from Cali. I'm not sure what their laws are regarding purchasing a weapon for non-residents. Most of the time the PX sells guns, but ours out here in Cali doesn't. I'm in Cali now for the next month and hate this ******* place.

PX selling guns? I have never seen a PX selling guns.

What I have found all applies to residents. Colorado was easy for military, you pay like $50 and you have a concealed carry permit. Things are always so different for military.

Movie theaters clearly state on the front window that they do not allow consealed weapons brah.
Oh, really? I've never seen that. I hate gun control laws. Most laws in place screw over the people that actually care about weapon responsibility. Obviously someone with a bad intent isn't going to be deterred by a no guns allowed sign. Just prevents those that actually obey the law from carrying a gun in and being able to protect themselves

Not here.. any business in Minnesota can opt to post a sign, but I honestly have NEVER seen one except for schools and government buildings (they dont even need them, because any school/learning instution or government building like post offices and court houses don't allow weapons, some even do, but you must check in with them beforehand)

But yea, I don't know if I have personally ever seen a "THIS BUSINESS BANS GUNS ON THESE PREMISES" sign here in MN

Also, we can open carry.

I can't remember the last time I've heard of someone getting shot by a LEGALLY owned weapon either here.. its always ghetto gang **** with illegal/stolen guns.

I grew up in NC and my dad is a sheriffs deputy so he used to carry his in everywhere. And a lot of guys used to bring them to school. So long as it was a rifle or shotgun used for hunting, and it was unloaded and placed in a gun rack in plain sight, it was ok. Or at least no one said anything about it, but I grew up in the middle of nowhere and everyone knew each other and was a very redneck area.

I could email them, but who knows how long they would take to get back. Nothing on the website really about military. Was hoping maybe someone on here either lives in Cali and is a gun guru, or maybe someone is military living in Cali and already knows the process.
