Calculus (Integrals)

heh.
I'm trying to get back on my feet with Calculus, after a good 4 months of doing nothing.

In problems 1-4, show that the indicated function is a solution of the given differential equation; that is, substitute the indicated function for y to see that it produces an equality.

4.) (dy/dx)^2 + y^2 = 1; y = sin (x + C) and y = +-1

I need a step-by-step //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Euler's Method?

We just had a test on this yesterday, but it wasn't in the form you have there...we did an initial value problem with a much simpler diff. equation //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

What was the indicated function here? y = sin (x + C) ?
Yes.
...and is that d^2y/dx^2 or (dy/dx)^2 ?
(dy/dx)^2.

not the second derivative, it is the first derivative squared.

But I answered it, and had class just now and it was right, so i'm all good. Expect me back for more soon //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I haven't had calc in like 3 or 4 yrs.

All that shit looks familiar....but I don't have a clue about how to solve it.

I'm so dumb

Got an A- in calc class when I had it though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I don't remember most of it, but I could pick it up again rather fast. Right now we are doing Laplace Transforms which completely eliminates the need for most of the complicated calc.

I have a few ME friends and they arent liking the fluids and thermo too much, glad I chose EE instead of ME or CE. Plan on goin with a minor in either of the two though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
