Calculations with Gas Prices and Paycheck Earnings - Check it out!

How many of you people *****ing about gas prices get over 30 mpg ?How many drive like an idiot ?

How many have souped-up their cars ?

How many don't carpool ?

How many could take the bus ?

How many could walk or bike to work ?

There's plenty YOU COULD ACTUALLY DO to cut costs, but a lot of people just ***** about it while driving an SUV that gets 15 mpg ...
16.5mpg //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif 430miles/26gal

How many drive like an idiot ? i drive really good actually, i use CC around 58 mph where my rpms are lower get around 26 mpg there

How many have souped-up their cars ? i dont, stock supercharger thats it

How many don't carpool ? carpool to school yet still drive over 200 miles in a week with school

How many could take the bus ? no bus transport around here

How many could walk or bike to work ? cant walk to work or the nearest town

in cunclusion 40% of my income goes to gas and i only make 600 a month, i cant really work more with school it sucks!

also it is much easier to bitch about it rather than to do something

You forgot to subtract 25% of your gross for taxes, lowering your net and thereby increasing the overall percentage you spend on gas.

So (110*12) / ((650*12)*.75)=22.5%

1320 / 5850 = 22.5%

Then your tax-bracket gets that 25% taxes back later. So add in into next years' income, provided it stays the same, for a two-year average of;

(110*24) / ((650*12)*.75) + (650*12)=

2640 / (5850*7800)=19%

Feel better?

yo jMac, wanna hump?

How many of you people *****ing about gas prices get over 30 mpg? I do

How many drive like an idiot? That's subjective

How many have souped-up their cars? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif It's a Geo Prizm...mechanically the same thing as a Corolla. Souped up?!

How many don't carpool? Inapplicable to my life/work/whatever

How many could take the bus? One of my jobs requires the use of my car. The other job is in a location with no mass transit access.

How many could walk or bike to work? See above

I'm not going to bother to do the calculations on income percentage going towards fuel purchases - but it's too durned much, IMO. On the flipside of the same coin...I gotta have it so there's not much point in bitching about it.

do we have the new jmac?

i did the math, spend ~$100 a month on gas (luckily school is 5 minutes from my house),22% of my annual salary goes to gas but of course I don't make more than $600 a month.

not so much *****in about gas prices, just *****ed that it jumped like 40 cents (went from $2.79 - $3.19) in 1 day. Get used to paying it because it's only gonna get worse.

I really don't believe I should have to inconvenience myself due to raising gas prices. I drive smart and try not to drive when not needed. But changing my life style just because of the spike in gas, I can't see.

Sure I could take the trolley/bus to work. This would require me to get up an hour and fifteen minutes early. And the commute would take about 45min. There's 2 hours of extra wasted time. Then the commute home would take about an hour, due to the heavy amount of people commuting. So we are looking at 2 hours 45 mins of my life I have to change/waste to adjust to saving money.

Why should peoples greed affect my life style? Inconvenience me to make them happier.

But I don't go complaining every day either.

How many drive like an idiot ? Lol, well, i dont drive like an idiot but i still get ~15 mpg in my 93 sable, can't figure out what's wrong with it, it's just getting old i guess (runnin hard, and also myexhaust is rusted in half)

How many don't carpool ? Just wouldnt work with my class situation

How many could take the bus ? Bus doesnt go anywhere i want to.

How many could walk or bike to work ? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif way too far.

Basically i get horrible gas mileage cuz my car is goin to hell, and i can't afford to get a new one because i spend so much money on gas //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif , i'm fvcked.

Easy there big guy...
I really dont care, I dont find that it is that much money. There is nothing you can do to change the price, so why complain? I was just joining in on the thread...
Actually you CAN doo something to lower gas prices. Back in the in the civil rights time they boycotted and eventually segregation ended on buses and eventually everywhere

Now you could do the same with gas, hard yes, but it would work!

Hooke me up, my numbers are exactly spot on to yours... weeeird.

But.

- I get about 16 mpg

- I drive like an idiot

- Souped up? no, I but I bet theres more I could do to reduce gas costs

- My friend lives a block away and we both drive our own cars to school

- Dont even need the bus, I can walk

- 1.2 kms to school.. I walked it for 5 years.

Driving is a privalage and I know that, so spending 18% of my money on gas is my choice.

I bet I spend double that on beer.

lets see i but about $60 a week into gas and i pay about $70 every 2 weeks for bus tickets. so thats 60x4= 240 and 70x2=140 for a total of $380 a month in transportation. but what i pay in gas saves me in rent. i drive a little further so i can live in a nicer place. i live about an hour and 15 mins from where i work. and my truck gets about 20mpg.

i make roughly $2100 a month after taxes however that number should go up to $2100 a week in 4.5 years once i have completed my apprenticeship. so i can afford to live closer to work while still having a nice place to live and not spend so much on gas. i am acatual looking at a place that is 1 mile from my bus stop so i can just leave my truck parked and ride the but for the 5 days a week that i work. however it will be a few months untill i can get up the money to move out as i jsut put all my money down on my new truck so i have to save up about another $2000 to move out.

How many of you people *****ing about gas prices get over 30 mpg ? 30 even

How many drive like an idiot ? nope - 65 during rush hour, 60 highway, 55 everywhere else

How many have souped-up their cars ? not yet

How many don't carpool ? can't - drive half hour to school and then back then to work

How many could take the bus ? - too far, it'd be like a 4 hour ride

How many could walk or bike to work ? neither to school or work

400 miles on 13 gallons. Fill from E every 1.5 weeks. paychecks ~ 700/month. I don't care to do the math
