Calculated dB of my Obsidian 15..

I was wondering if my calculations were right. everybody says that you need to double the wattage to gain 3dB of sound so...

watts=dB

1=88

2=91

4=94

8=97

16=100

32=103

64=106

128=109

256=112

512=115

1024=118

Are these accurate calculations? I'm going to be running 800 watts to my Obsidian so am going to get around 117dB? Seems flawed..

That is in half space. So no cabin gain. Plus the box makes a huge difference. So if you model it in WinISD the fr and spl is only good for comparing to other subs in the program. In real life every thing changes.

my oa 15 did a 128.7 in 2.6 cubes 34 here box on like 300/ 350 watts. w/e an apsm1300 does at 4 ohms. the oa will get pretty loud. And the 128.7 was with crappy electrical, (no big 3, no sound dampening, nothing special. sub up port forward and in my 09 civic and it scored that at the windshield.) hope that info helps.

lol dude, my comps could probably do a 128.7. crappy electrical wont change an apsm at 4 ohm, its only drawing roughly 25-40amps.

on my civics 80a alt with comps running. yeah its a lot lol. especially at idle. and at 300w in way too small of a box. it did pretty decent. its way louder now in my new box. but my point is that with a really crappy messed up set up the oa 15 would easily hit 117. so his calculations where ever he got them r way off.

I would say that is not a lot at all. Your box was for sure the reason why it was such a low score. Btw what hz was that score at I hate when people say "I hit ...." and don't mention at what hz.

i think it was on a solid 40 hz burp. and yeah I'm glad i got a different box built. as big as i could go lol. had to build part of it in my trunk...

i have it at 1 ohm now. 3.5 cubes tuned to 27. I'm positive im not giving it 1k watts yet. but its a lot louder. might get it metered again after i do some dampening and maybe a better amp.
