CA&E 10 best subs

I was looking at pickin up an LS an forking out the cash, but i only has 12mm of x-max when other subs I was looking at had 15-20mm like the Assassin I ended up with or about 1/8th the price. What makes them so special unless youreally need a shallow mount 15"? They are not even THAT shallow... I would probably place my money on the TC sounds shallows over them when they come out. Am I way off base here?
Not everybody is concerned solely with Xmax //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

From what I've heard, they sound very nice and have more than adequate output. The Illusion subs were widely hailed as one of the top sound quality subs. And from the few reviews I've read, the LS are right up there with the IA's in SQ.

Haven't heard one myself, so I can't verify those claims......

my idMAX is ranked behind a 150 dollar phoenix gold and two rockford fosgates? and the 150 dollar fosgate ranks higher than the 650 dollar one? errR? the list is backwards! and where's the diamond d9..? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Like i said earlier...I know the Digital Designs box was way off check out their site at http://www.ddaudio.com for what size boxes DD recommends for their subs ...I'm sure the others are off as well...You just can't slap a sub in any ole box and expect it to perform properly...It may perform decent...but each speaker needs a specific designed box to gain its full performance capabilities....

first off, when CA&E reviews a sub.. they acutally hook it up in an application and spend weeks listening to it rating it on more than just one category.. its overall performance (thus the "point system"). as far as CA&E is concerned a sub can hit 140 by itself on the Meter, but if the sound quality isnt that good, the points go down. thats why the list looks so ****ed up. haha
now imo i dont like JL w3's, 6's, or 7's. they have absoulutly no cooling system incorperated with the driver itself. this leads to nothing but burnt coils and useless speakers. i dont know about you guys, but i play my music loud, and hard, and i dont want to buy subs every 6 months.

of course, the best sub on that list has to be the Cerwin-Vega Stroker pro 15. im gettin four of these powered by two zapco (also imo, the best amps money can buy) C2k 4kw amps. That's the way to go.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif
