hey i just got a BXI2006D of ebay for around 360

so anyways...

straight out of the manufactures box, i hooked up remote wire, the neg, then the positive and spark spark.. interesting eh?

idk what happened i had the speaker cables hooked up already into a 1 ohm load... but the car wasn't turned on so it has nothing to do with the speakers shorting out...

i plugged it into a 12v power supply i had laying around and after a few sec smoke came out the side...

Never did the power or protection light come on..

anybody have any idea whats wrong or what happend?

im sure i had everthing hooked up right.

I sent a message to the ebay guy asking him what i can do but does anyone else have any comments?

Ur suppose to do postive first, then negative. Was there power in the remote line when u plugged in the postive? (Ie. Was the Headunit on)

headunit was off.... no power in the remote line.. I dont see how which order you hook pos and neg makes a diff. No power flows until they are both connected.. or am i wrong

this is frustrating!

is it possible that the neg and pos where switched and the neg shorted out with the rem line?

i don't think it would of tho because the headunit was off

when i got my herc, brand new, similar thing hapened to me. Everything wired up correctly with no issues, then when i turned my HU on, it made a popping sound and smoked.

Not sure what was wrong, but something was faulty because the LED logo on top never worked either, luckily warranty covered it for me. did the amp come with the maxxsonics warranty? they honored mine no questions asked, although whoever fixed my amp messed up somewhere hehe the LED sparks when it vibrates a whole bunch. will prolly get it fixed locally tho.

did you check to see if you blew the fuses on it? when you opened up the amp, was any of the board burned up?
I searched the amp and failed to find any fuses at all ???

i looked at the board and didn't see anything that was burned...

i tried to hook it up the another 12v power source and the neon would flash and then the 12 volt would short out and die.

the inside of the board was clean so my guess is it was something small with a big effect=(

why did you have the fuse in the fuse holder when plugging it all in?

I don't think this amp is equipped with a fuse, which is odd, i will recheck when i get home.

my power cable is fused with 150 amp fuse i think at the battery. its only 4ga but i will be upgrading it soon.

I contacted the seller and im going to send it back to get it replaced...

Is there anyway they can detect if it was a user installation error.

Im sure theres no major damage to the amp, probably just one small circuit got burnt.

But i need to get it replaced really soon

ill probably package it up when i get home and try to ship it.

anyone have any comments?

u shouldve unscrewed ur ground to ur battery and then ran the wires, and if u did have the fuses in the fuse holder when installin, thats my guess to why u ****ed it up. I did the same thing to my amp when installin but luckily nothin happened to it. Also when i installed it, i had the ground plugged into the battery output :|

i didnt get the manufacture warranty. the page claims to have a 1 year warranty with the ebay seller though
Dont be so sure about that. If they do happen to cover it which they most likely wont then it will probably take a very long time before you see your amp again.

He is probably right about that! At least from most of what I have seen. You are probably better off to just buy another one and when the first one comes back sell it. I waited for a 6x9 almost 1/2 year. I will never do that again! Just buy another set and when the good unit comes back sell em!
