bx1500d shutting down

I've been running my Brutus 1500D at 1ohm since I've had it. And that's about 3 months now. No problems whatsoever. It doesn't even get WARM.

Your alternator is bigger than mine. I have a 90amp alt. And I also have a 100wrms x 2 amp running my components. Both those amps on my little 90amp alternator, and I have not had a problem yet.

I wouldn't get the 80amp fuses if I were you. If you car can't supply what the amp needs NOW, then it definately won't be able to supply anywhere near 160amps.

I've been nothing but satisfied with my Brutus since day one.

I plan on lightening it's load (not ohm related). I'm getting an A series 15", and putting it in my oversized box. So it'll only have to put out about 750wrms or so, with PLENTY of headroom leftover //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Sorry to hear your having problems with yours //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Yeah, it sounds like you are not giving it the juice. Especially if it happens when you are at idle. Upgrading your alt, checking your wiring, are two good places to start.

well i tested it all day today at different stages and it seems like it shuts down when ever it feels like it. I tried it with engine off one time it worked fine then next it shut down. Then engine idle same and engine running around 3k and same. I love this amp but so far it has been nothing but a pain in the ass im affraid its going to shutdown and not come back on. Any suggestions out there?

well... mine is being really dumb now... with no rca's and no speaker wires connected... just power, remote, and ground... it goes straight into protection when it cuts on... i'm about to sell my zeus 4 channel... and get new amps and rebuild my box and everything... this sux :-(

not sure how relevant this is, but my jbl 1200.1 used to do the same thing. my stock alt at the time was 80amp and finally one day my battery went dead at a wendy's drive through. after that i upgraded the alt and added a deep cycle battery and ive never had that problem ever since.

now i have the bx1500 @ 1 ohm and it has never cut off on my--even on long road trips.

Well i think i found the problem and fixed it. I got in my van and started it and the amp did not come on i was like crap it finally turned off for good. Well i opened the hood and grabed my power cable to check the fuse and i heard it make a sprak sound and the amp came on. Closer looking i seen that moister got into the fuse holder and the fuse holder had a rusty look inside so it was not making a good connection. So far i replaced the whole fuse and fuse holder setup and got a new terminal since it was krudy looking to and it has not shut off at all. Hope it stays that way

bah ur lucky... i randomly hook mine up.. just 2 see if maybe it'll come on... everytime i put the fuse in and turn it on... amp comes on and red lights lights up automatically... sux for me :-( this is my SECOND one to crap out on me.. i'm upset

**** ***** big guys //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif I had 2 CX1200D's crap out on me.

I was getting huge voltage drops from 13ish to 9or10 volts.

I have since upgraded my alternator and I get less voltage drops now, and my Mojo seems to be fine.

Your alternator should be alright to run that amp, maybe just make sure you have a good ground. Hook up a volt meter to the next amp you get, check the voltage at idle, then check it when you play the amp. I wouldn't like to see it go below 11-12 volts.

Good luck,

Craig G

weird thing is... my other amp is going fine... i have a hifonics zx4400 on my front & rear speakers... 4 gauge power 2 everything... but since the 4 channel is running off the distribution block from the main power wire... wouldn't the 4 channel be affected as well as the sub amp if i had a voltage drop? oh well... this sux 4 me ...

hey, i just got a bx1500 and mine just randomly turns off or goes into protect and then turns on at random times, i think it might be ground but it runs fine somtimes for long periods, i feel like the rest off u, this ***** major.

I have a BX1000D (from Limitkid7) and never any problems...because it's only been hooked up twice. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Sorry to hear that guys...
