Buzz?

im trying to hook up my tv/dvd player to my reciever because obviously it has a lot better sound quality and the tv speakers.. anyways..i have a set of rca's. the red and white are going from the dvd output to the video spots on the reciever. then the yellow goes from the tv to the dvd player. (i only wanna have the stereo sound for watching dvd's..idc about daily tv) but whenever i hook up all the cables..a really irritating low volume buzz comes through the speakers. as soon as i turn the sound up above 1 it covers the buzz(which doesnt get any louder). how do i get rid of the **** buzzing? its really annoying me.

and another thing..where would the rca's from a plate amp go to on the stereo amp?
