buying used amp, how do i protect myself?

Ok I'm thinking about buying this PB xa-3000 locally(craigslist). The only amp ive ever owned is a brz1200, I'm just wondering what I might be able to look for to make sure the amp is solid. I will hook it up, and push my 18 Q, before purchasing, but other than that how could I check it?

Take off the back. Look at the guts. Install it see if it works Crank it up

Also (sounds funny) smell it to see if it smells burnt.

I wouldnt know what to look for In the guts. I guess for melted or burned ****? Also he's offering the xa-3000 for $250 or a ps3 lol. Is that a good deal?

Have the electrical to handle the amp when you test it. I would want to go full wang on it before purchasing it.

Open it up, look for anything that looks like it may be burnt or out of place or loose. If your not sure what to look for, if you have a cell phone pull up a good size picture of the amps guts/board thats not blown or nothing on your phone to look at while your looking over the amp board. Smell the board as well to see if there is a burn smell to it. If you dont have the electrical to run it wide open then have the seller play it FULL TILT before he even unhooks it or whatever.

if yal meet up and says "he doesnt have the electrical" to run it wide open, or cant hook it up to play then idk if id buy it or not.

Mainly look for burnt or chared areas on the board and parts fire it up Listen for humming. Static and just abnormal noises
