Buying a Sundown Audio SAZ-1500D... have no idea what i'm doing

Thanks to TheUnderFighter il be picking up a SAZ-1500D in the next week or two. This amp will be powering two Earthquake DBX12's. The DBX12's are dual 4ohm rated at 400W rms each. I can do math and I know sundown amps are underrated so if I screw up i'm VERY likely to blow my subs. So my questions are as follows, (and yes I know I should google each one and read up, but between college and work I don't have copious amounts of free time.)

Edit: wanted to add another question, my current amp (Xplod XM-GTX1852) is wired to mono 4ohm, witch has an RMS rating of 400W. The SAZ-1500D also has an RMS rating of 400W @ 4ohm, but I assume there will be a difference. Am I correct?

Gain, I assume its directly related to sub power.

Subsonic, no clue, some type of LPF?

LPF, frequency cut off for amp response, right?

Bass Boost, kinda obvious, but should I use it? I assume no

Phase, No idea

If you can give me tips on ANY thing I mentioned or just general info I would really appreciate it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I don't feel like destroying my things :|

I know gain is your headunit's output signal not a volume knob. All it does is zones in on the signal coming into the amp from the head unit. If you go to low you'll lose output, but if you go too high you will send a clipped signal. Best way to set this is with a o-scope. (As to how to do that, no idea, but i am sure someone with more smarts than me can explain.)

Subsonic is how low of a frequency you want your sub to get. Anything below it will be cut out.

LPF is the opposite i believe. Anything higher will be cut out. You dont want vocals coming through your sub.

No bass boost. Its a clipping knob.

Phase: no friggin idea.

Im not an expert but i try to listen when i can.

Gain, I assume its directly related to sub power. No it relates to the rca voltage from your hu. as brodeisel said use a dmm to set it. search on here for a tutorial how to set them

Subsonic, no clue, some type of LPF? use if subs are in ported box, its a hpf for the low lows. start with a setting of 3-5 hz below box tuning. if they subs loose control when hitting the lows move it up closer to what the box is tuned to

LPF, frequency cut off for amp response, right? keeps frequencies above the setting from playing, set it to 80hz to start with

Bass Boost, kinda obvious, but should I use it? I assume no correct, don't use

Phase, No idea start with it at 0, you can experiment with it by setting it to 180 to see if it sounds better after getting all your other settings done. basically at 180 (degrees) the subs play in exact opposite timing of when they would at 0 phase

Thanks to everyone who's helping //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif updated OP with another question :|
