Alright so i have decided i HAVE to get rid of my truck it just needs too much work, so im going to pick up a bike to cruise around for a month or so since it is summer and i can get away with it for the meantime. im only spending about 3000 on a bike but i dont know what kind of mileage i should stay away from, what kind of mileage is too high for a bike? i have ridden dirt bikes my whole life and i know what im doing i narrowed it down between a r6 or cbr600 i have found some pretty nice looking ones on craigslist but i am not new to bikes, just new to the street scene, i dont need a fast bike just one to get me around for a month or so until my 450 sells so that i can buy a tahoe. If anyone could throw out some number of what is to high for a bike newer than 2000 i would appreciate it.

What kind of mileages are you seeing? I would think it's more about maintaining the bike properly, I've got an 81 CB900C that only has 14K miles on it.. I've seen 2002 bikes with 65K. My dad has a friend with an 82 Goldwing with about 200K. All have just had regular maintenance.

on craigslist bikes can be had CHEAP and good because its local. You should search and find the deals in your area. Its different everywhere, i've been looking at newer honda shadows i love how they look mmmm

if it's in your budget I'd get the lower mile one. and from most of the bikes I've seen locally I'd lean to the CBR. Honda's seem to be more reliable than yamaha's.

i have found tons of them local around a 2001 or 2002 with like 14k miles for under 3k. i thought they were going cheap because 14k miles was alot in teh street bike world but i guess not.

R6s and CBRs are common as dirt, you should be able to find a decent one.

Around here, you pay a premium for anything that's not a basket case - and I saw my fair share of those last year.

i have owned a yz125(yamaha) and a crf50/crf70/cr250/ and a crf450 all honda and i would like to stick to the hondas. but it seems that the r6's are going for cheaper.
