burnt a lil

well i changed boxxes from my ghetto home made sealed to alpines box which is way better

when i changed it out the guy said he can smell the coil was burnt a lil, and said it was because the boxx was too small for the sub (which was to specs )

what i wanted to know if it should be ok now, and if that would of costed any loss in output or quality
