Burning rubber/ plastic smell from new type X

I just replaced my type R with a type X 12 inch sub looking for improved sound quality. While sound has improved, it is not that much better, but the real issue is that after songs with a lot of bass, I notice a burning, bad smell coming from the rear of the car. Any ideas?

I heard that the type X is a real improvement over the type R in sound quality, but was actually worse in smell quality. Im not sure tho, that may just be a rumor.

Seriously I heard Type X's have poor smell quality.

with my old 9500 it would smell ripe after slamming one song. but it still worked fine and it still works fine.

You can burn a coil a bit without blowing it completely. I have burned up many a sub, but never blown one.
