A friend and I built a new box for me last night. It was made to these plans:

Neither of us had built a box before, so I learned a lot along the way //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

When I went to home depot, someone I knew from high school was working there so I had him do all the cuts (10 or 12 total). Picked up some brads and titebond II while I was there. First off I make the cutout with a jigsaw (too lazy to router it), and it turns out that I'm not so good with a jigsaw //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif It ended up a little bigger than needed, but not horrible.

Next we started asssembling the box. We did have to trim a few pieces, but it was going pretty well until we got to the port. I think we should have put the two port pieces together, and then mounted them to the bottom, but we did one at a time. Therefore the 90 in the port doesn't have any brads in it. .

Once we went to put the top on we realize that the front and back piece were just over 1/16" taller than the other pieces (port and sides). It was kinda late to do any trimming, so we just put it on and hoped the brads could pull the wood down enough so that glue could seal.

Lastly we drilled a couple holes and put in this set of terminals:

Later that night, before I left his house we fired it up for a test run. It sounded terrible! Like my sub was broken! We eventually realized there was a huge air leak around the terminal. I put a bunch of weather stripping around/under it and tried again. It was still leaking! Then we realized that the terminal is not airtight at all! Not even close! The area under the push button is totally open! I think I'll have to pick up a different terminal this weekend and try to fix it. I'm also going to seal up the joints to make sure there's no air leaks.

Next up is a faceplate that will go across the whole tunk (for looks).

It isn't too bad if you enter what you want specifically, but if you enter the t/s WATCH OUT lol.
yeah, i knew what box size and tuning i wanted, and i like to play with what xmax i enter in order to get the port width that i want. it just makes a cut sheet for me, so i don't have to do any real thinking //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

terminal cup/plates FTL i never ever would use those...

just drill holes for the wire and silicone all up around it... if you want removable wires, put ring terminals on the speaker wire inside the box, and stick a bolt thorugh those and through the outside of the box... put a nut on it and then connect the amp with ring terminals on the part of the bolt sticking out... will be super-conductive and airtight //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif
