Buddy needs help....

Alright guy's my friend needs some help her car when she's driving all of a sudden her head lights will start dimming and it will just die luckly she made it to my friend's house but is now like stranded there when they try to jump it it will just stay idle for about 20 or 15 mins and then die . it has no system in the car at all either . I would go up there and try and help them but there like 2 hours away and i have no ride because mine is on the lift at the shop. Can't get a DMM or anything up there either to check voltage because she can't even take it to autozone or anything like that. If anything i would guess it's the alt what it sounds like. As of right now i can not find out what kind of car it is because the one guy does not have a phone in his new place or cell so i can't contact him to see what kind of ride it is. But any suggestions you guys?

Sounds like either the alt went out or the battery. If you can get in touch with them at all have them swap a battery and see if that fixes it.

95% probably the alternator.

The battery is obviously running out while she's driving, so there is no power being recharged, = Alternator. By jumping the car, you are giving the battery what little juice it needs to last that 20 mins. or so. Because the battery dies, and the alternator obviously isn't charging it, the ignition system dies, and therefore the engine. That's a brief explanation of what I THINK is wrong. Even if the battery was bad, the car would run with a good alternator, but it would not restart after being parked. If she has had to have a jump recently after being parked, then the battery being bad may have caused excess strain on her alternator, thus killing it.

Easiest way to see if it's the alternator is to start/jumpstart the car let it run for a couple of minute and remove the ground from the battery(with the car running) if the car shuts off it's the alt.
