ok so heres the deal Im planning on running a pair of 12's ported with the subs and port firing into the cabin sealed off from the trunk. I have ~6k rms on tap (2 atomic 3000.1ds). I can fit up to 5 cubes net ported with a reasonable port area and tuning (~90" area tuned to 35hz).

I want to know which of these subs will get the loudest, lowest and sound good doing it. by lowest i mean lows with authority if it can play 20hz but only at 80db then thats not gonna cut it.

the 9512 has mech noise that i hate but gets really loud and sounds decently good. i can build one for real cheap and i already have one so i would only need to get one more for the pair.

The BTL is plain nasty and will probably satisfy my spl needs but how good does it sound?

The axis will sound beautiful im sure and it only needs a small box to perform but how will it compare in spl to the others?

The alphas i already have and i just really want to know how these will compare in terms of spl and sq with the other possible options.

I suppose we can throw death penalties, night shades and lvl4 xls into the mix for sh1ts and giggles.

Anything that you guys think i should look into besides whats listed? Im tempted to buy another konaki motor and make custom subs with spaced spiders for more linearity/less coil rock but idk how that will compare and i could probably get better motors to do this with anyways.

This is going into a 2000 Chrysler 300m (dodge intrepid) and the subs will be pushed up to the back of the rear seats as far as possible w/o hitting. yes the rear seats fold down and i have an armrest port for when i have passengers.

The DP's can handle this with ease. BTL's and DD 9500's close second and third.
thanks but thats not what i asked. I know that all of the subs will handle the power (except for the alphas unless i build a tiny box) but i want to know which will be the loudest and best sq and lowest sound output.

also i dont want the subs to take it with ease i want these things to be moving so im getting good output.

Also before i get the answer, I know the install will be the key factor in the spl but im talking about capability here and potential to get loud off of my power and have good sq.

...the DP's man...I just said that. BTL's would be second then DD......

The DP's are great on the lows, that would be the best choice out of all that. Well, the nightshades too.

I've used the12'' XLs and 9512s. I think the XLs have more of a smooth sound to them and since I was tuned low (32hz) they dominated the low notes. I've only tried one box for the 9512s so far (4.8@39) and it has no trouble playing down into the low 30s, but with much less authority than the XLs did. I'm sure if you tune the DDs to 35hz you'll get plenty of lows. I'm kind of confused why you want to play at 20hz though? I've only been playing with the 9512s for a few weeks now but I do notice much more mechanical noise compared to the DCs (subs are about 2ft from my ear so it's definitely noticeable). I've read good things about how the BTLs sound as a daily sub and I wouldn't mind trying out a pair of those in the future. Since you already have something you don't like with the DDs my opinion would be to try something new. Go ahead and give the BTLs a try, I bet they'll suit your needs.

Agreed, BTL's, DP's, or nightshades should do the job very easily. IMO, it would be nighshades as top choice, DP's second top choice, or BTL's third top choice. Either way you go, you'll be hitting the lowest of the lows...considering port tuned in the low 30's.

Ok so then thats no votes for the axis? is this because the output levels wont approach the levels of the dp/ns/btl? Sound quality wise will they all be comparable or will the axis kick all their *****.

Can't say, never personally heard the axis but from the specs, it's pretty beasty as well. Prolly will kill in the lows as well but that's just a guess. Have you tried looking on youtube to see if someone's running them?

I think he means everything. Should be able to hang with the loudness and clarity of the other subs mentioned.
EDIT: They may be able to compare, but price wise...the DP's and BTL's are the best choice.
the axis is the cheapest and they look like they hit pretty good on the youtube vids but the the btl always looks like it flexes sh1t more. same with the dp and night shade but that could be because most of the guys that run those subs have big ported boxes. not sure what the enclosure specs are for the axis in most of the vids i saw but they generally recommend a much smaller enclosure relatively.
