Breaking it in? OR no?

Ive heard both for and against, I have no clue what is the 'correct' way to go. I usually do a 3-wk break in period of mid-low volumes of atleast 30 min each time.

when i first got mine installled i put it up about 1/3 max...then later that day i blasted it...i think u should break it in for like an hour...then turn it up..cause there isnt anything wrong with my subs and i blasted it afte like an hour...and they are like 6 months old now..

I've thrashed on subs as soon as I got them and had both (2 12s) blow in about a month, then when I got the new ones under warranty, I broke them in and thrashed on them for over a year, and they still work to this day. maybe a conicidence, but I know I'm going to break my subs in from now on.

Just plug them in and use them as normal. They'll "break-in" over time with normal use. About the only time you'd have a problem is if you are an SPL competitor throwing their subs to Xmech straight outta the box. For daily driving, no need for break in.

Break in = overrated

FYI: I've yet to see any hard documentation and/or proof that "breaking in" subs actually has any kind of effect.

i got my 4 tens installed and cranked it right up, worked just fine no blowage. ive also broken subs in, and not noticed any difference, infact i had a sub blow even when i broke it in

I'd agree.

a speaker is nothing more than an electrical motor/piston. u get a brand new motor in a car (rebuilt or just new) you break it in a tad before you thrash on it
sometimes easier said than done.

dropped the fresh big block in my camaro, proceed to test drive...

Debatable when you talk about serious afteramarket cars....
