breaking in

lol. Ask a question then get mad about an answer you don't like //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.... They both gave you their thoughts on the matter. If you weren't going to try what he said why did you even bother asking? Completely pointless of you to make this thread.

agreed........

How to break in a subwoofer:
Step 1: Put sub in box, wire normally

Step 2: Set amplifier gain normally

Step 3: Listen to it at normal volumes

Step 4: Sub will break in by itself over time.
x2

All someone telling you to break the sub in is doing is telling you not to clip the signal going to the sub and smoke the coils, more or less.

i didn't get mad about an answer i didn't like, in fact i'm quite happy i got such fast response from him as i did. i would just rather not use that method.

i wasn't asking him personaly what he did and i didn't know what was coming when i asked the question, so how could you possibly say it's pointless or why even bother asking?

and for the record I'm not saying you should break your sub in, I was merely giving advice on if you were going to break the sub in instead of just saying "don't you do it."

Personally I don't do it..../shrug.

i know this and i'm truly saying thank you for your help.

online forums and things of the such are always confusing because you never now how a person is saying something as you would the tone of someones voice.

i really wasn't saying anything in an ******** way

apology accepted ;x

There is no special steps to breaking in a speaker. Play it at normal volumes and let it run for a little bit. It'll break in in no time. No worries, it isn't going to blow on you!

Kickers owners manual says "no breakin required" and "they will get slightly louder/more compliant over a week or two of normal daily playing" I haven't broke in a set yet, I hit my punch 1's with over twice their rated power and they lived for 2 yrs. on it with no break-in. IMO another urban myth

My IDQ came with a huge warning note to not give it full power, and allow it to break in for atleast a week before doing so. Should I disregard that then?

I asked Mike from SoundSplinter about this in an email regarding my new RL-P15, and this was his reponse:

"The suspension will soften up as you use it, which slightly increases sensitivity and should therefore slightly improve performance. Feel free to give her a good lickin' right out the box (within reason of course). No reason to think that the driver will become any stronger through a slow break-in, so you may as well go at it straight from the start. =]

~m."

So I've taken his advice and didn't really worry about breaking it in.....but to be honest after a couple weeks I still don't think I've pushed this thing to it's limit. Def a super sub.
