Breaking in the Lil Monsters!

I get lots of questions about box size. This is where I become a tard LMAO

Box dimensions are 35w across back from left to right 15H and 23.75 deep( front to back)

Port is 10w x 13.5H x 29.5L

Anyone who wants to tell me what my box size is plz. feel free.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
my single 10 is only doing a 41.5 right now.
Corey I know you can help me out here. Whats my box size and tuning?

Looks like my box is a bit bigger than I thought.

Inside volume = 5.82324 cu. ft.

Tuning looks likes it's 40hz. Well what do ya know. No wonder it hits the lows fairly well. LOL

you have to subtract the total displacement of the port. so

10.750x13.5x29.5 is ur port with .750 added for wall thickness. that =2.48cf of port displacement. subtract the port area from the gross and you have net to plug in...

also remember if ur port is L shaped you have to measure down the middle to get port length so if it dose i am willing to bet that will be about 3-4" longer. i use a string test then measure the string.

when you put that side plate on what is the length of that? that will act as a sidewall to ur slot add half the legth of that too....

ok Rob i got on my normal calculator(not at work lol) that i use all the time for yrsss and it is telling me it's tuned to 49.5hz but you have a L shaped port and you need to measure in the middle and the width is 10" so i have to add 5" to the length.

you HAVE to measure in the middle of the port. that takes ur tunning to 47hz. this is what ur box IS tuned to.

now drop ur subs in and ur tunning is going to go up because it is taking part of ur net volume.

what it sounds like to me is you might want to try tunning ur box alittle lower because the meter likes it. i'm almost sure that the side is dropping ur tunning a bit though. if u need anymore help just give me a shout, glad to help ya out...

Corey thanks a bunch. That definately makes more sense. I couldnt see how we tuned it with a meter and would be 5hz. off. So the next box will be 40-43hz. like I originally planned.

Time to get to work!

dont forget the lower you drop your box freq the longer the port will be, you may run out of port room on the L //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif and the longer you go with the port the less net cub ft your gonna have. Have fun //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I was thinking of stretching the box and keep the port 10in to combat that. Theres about 4 in I can go without choking the port opening now. We shall soon find out.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif I think I'm gonna tune the next box the same way in the vehicle. That way I know for certain whats loudest.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

i am gonna say keep ur net cf down to 2.5cf for the pair it will handle the power better.

like you said it didnt like the 5k before you added the sides around the front of the box that was because you were playing below tunning. now with the sides its lowered ur tunning and ur able to burp ok.
