Brand New Kinetik Battery sitting low on voltage

Just got a new kinetik red series equivalent to the HC1800 from sonicelectronix today. Tested the voltage and its sitting at a measly 12.05v. Is that something to worry about or would a trickle charge bring it right back to its normal 12.9v resting voltage?

12.09 is very low, especially if it's supposedly never been used. I left one of my big C&D batts in my garage for 2 years without charging it, and it was still at 12.4V.

12.5 seems very low. I would ask them if they had a "birth" sheet or any kind of data to show how old it is. Probably will not have a birth sheet but its worth a try.

op you definetly need to charge it when i recieved mine it was sitting at 12.85 so charge it and see if it continues to drop to that same voltage then return it back for a replacement

Right now its sitting in 20F weather, would it be better to keep it inside until I can get a charger on it?

it would b fine either way you could always go to autozone but they might over charge it

Yeah, thats pretty low for a new battery. I'd send Sonic an email before I do anything. I wouldn't wanna be stuck with a subpar batt because I charged it before contacting the company to see if they would do anything.

its not worth the risk of them saying you mischarged it on unregulated voltage..

I would not touch it call Sonic and go from there if they say charge then I would but until then leave it alone cause like said above u go messing with it and it still want hold a charge they can come back with well it must have been something you did. Call them today..

all three of mine came with a resting voltage of over 12.8 same hc1800 battery.

This is what I got from customer service,

"We apologize but please understand that these batteries do sit for some

time at the manufacturers location then ours until sold. Although the

item is know where near its expire date it can lose some voltage from

sitting, you can put the unit on a charger for a couple of hours if you

want those extra points."
