Brake Light Slapping Windshield....

I think you can take those completley out. I took the one in my car out, due to the same problem. I don't know if the newer vehicles are removable, but im sure they are, becuase you might have to change a bulb. There should be screws or bolts that you can take out. Who really likes them 3rd brake lights anywayz?

Just FYI removing the collision light carries the same fine as having a brake light out. I remedied the same problem in my car by placing a small strip of ensolite (any small piece of foam would work) between the top-most section of the collision light housing and the window. You could also use those clear sticky plastic pieces you put on cabinets/doors to keep them from banging shut. Hope that helps out!

Is a collision light the same thing as a 3rd brake light?

I've been pulled over a lot, and even had my car searched a few times, and they never said anything about the missing 3rd brake light.

I've had mines out for a good couple of months, and I never had any complications. I say get rid of it, and make your own custom 3rd brake light with LEDs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i had the same problem a while back and my fix was a couple little self stick pieces of cork.

the kind that you put on the back of a cabinet door to keep it from slamming shut.

i put like 4 of those on the glass between the cover and the glass.

or you could pull the cover off and put a generous bead of clear silicon on it where it is touching the glass and let it dry.

then re-install it, the silicon should keep it from making any noises and wont be easily visible.

and it will probably just peel off the plastic should you ever need to take it off (i am just guessing on this one)

they saw you were a rapper and were trying to catch you riding dirty weren't they?

alright thanks everyone for all the input

right now i have 3 pieces of 2sided tape...

small piece on ends and one in middle (2 layers)

and it still hits, but not as bad.

im thinking the bottom of the housing is hitting and i dont want to put 2sided tape their because itll show to easy because that part of the window isnt tinted.

so i think i'll look into those cabinet things....what part of wal mart has those?? lol

wait do you thing if i put the 2sided tape on the windshield it'd be better then actualy putting it on the brake light housing???

because the housing comes out very easy i just have to pull it...so i put a couple pieces on the housing itself, if i put it on the windsheild it'd show....hmmm ill see what i can do.

not only is it illegal (IN FL) to remove that light, but for night driving i wouldnt imagine it being very safe either.....make sens eits a law..... pad that lil ****er, padding helps ALOT with bad vibes //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif not all cars were even made with a 3rd brake lite

i told my friend to just take his out because he had the same problem

i bought the little rubber/plastic things that u put on cabinet doors to keep them from slamming...im gonna put a few down hopefully 2morro if not monday.

but i was thinking...they are kinda stiff wont the brake light bounce and hit those? or do i put it to where there is no room for the light to bounce at all. cuz i might have to double stack them in that case.

i cant take it out....

1. my dad would kill me and go crazy.

2. i'd have a big gap in the window tint and that would lead to me having to retint that 1 window....which would ****

and yea it comes out easy and is connected by 1 wire which im guessing go to the bulb....but completely remove it...i cant.
