Braded Nails or Screws or Both?

OK I have seen Pro's use 2 inch Braded Nails and Screws to build a box. Some have just used braded nails and some used just screws. What is your thoughts on this. I have a nice 2 inch Braded Nail/Stapler gun and compresser figured I could get some use out of it?

:DMan I had a good hour long argument with other friends that its a good thing to use Braded Nails. All I got was no no no.... I knew I was not trippen! lol //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif When I get paid in a week or so I will build some new boxes and post.

the glue really holds the box together...the brads and/or screws are really just needed to hold panels in place while glue dries or to help draw a panel tight so the glue can really take hold and form a good seal....either works fine

So nails over screw any day of the week? I was going to use screws for my box build, but if you all say nails, Guess I need to get a nail gun.

Wow those were some fast responses. I guess my screw will be fine. Got some coated short deck screws.

Hey for all of those wanting to get a nice gun Harbor frieght had a Braded Nail gun that does 2 inch nails and staples for 20 bucks man. Got me a little husky compressor from a pawn shop for 30 and 50 bucks out the door can make custom boxes on the go =)

i use 1 1/4 brads, have been for years and have never had a box fall aprat. and screws take to long to clamp to getther and pre drill, the screw it together!

Ill be the different guy....

As bones said, the glue is what holds the box together. Period.

But you want to get the tightest joint possible while the glue cures, so I got with screws. They pull the panels together, whereas with screws, the panels both get pushed the same direction when the nail is shot in.

Brads are fine, but IMO screws are better.

Just my .02.

Ive only built 1 box but I like the fact as bj said the screws pull the 2 panels together. Even though its the glue that holds the box together Id rather have a solid tight joint then one that might not stay solid the entire time the glue is drying.
