I just got a new system, a Legacy 2400 Max Power 2 channel Blue Diamond Series Amp, and 2 Volfenhagen 12" subs, that can hadle 1000 watts each. Now i need to add a box.

Which is better? Sealed, Ported, or Bandpass? And What is the difference between them? Any help is greatly appreciated. Also, did I just waste a bunch of money on this system or is it going to do me good?

what the different boxes are, but, stick with sealed, or ported, anything else, waaaaaay to hard for a newb (no offence) the main difference is that ported, allows a certain frequencie of bass to be louder then the other frequencies, with certain subwoofers this is good cause with some woofers, those frequencies that you make louder, are usually really quiet in a sealed enclosure. sealed however, with almost any subwoofer, usually makes all frequencies sound equal in loudness. a theile small parameters page should be in the box your subs came in, also give us all the technical info on your amp please

Thanks for the replys, but i just bought them and they (the subs and amp) won't be here for another week or so. But when i do get the theile specs page i will make another post. This is what I have for the amp:

i was suprised a lot of people dont flame guys like this that buy legacy/pyle products. thats good. my naki 800 blew not too long ago and my friend had his old pyle 1600watt amp laying around and let me borrow it. i expected it to barely push. hits a lot louder than the nakamichi and cost 1/2 the price

it actually pounded to IT vegas in 2cubes each magnets protruding. blew the surround off of on while they were in normal facing position*easily patched*. my lights also dim and i can feel it slightly blur my vision. its also currently running at 1ohm bridged and isnt the least bit hot, you can just notice its warm. no even as warm as freshly dried underwear //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

id say this pyle is putting out 450x2 or 900-1k total to my vegas. cost 200 bucks he said, so it pretty well matches up to any other 200 dollar 1k watt amp. havent had any probs. good luck.

i wouldnt go out and buy was but i must say im impressed compared to what ive heard about them on some forums. mayeb its just luck it hasnt blown up yet :p

These are the most detailed specs I could find on my subs. I think some of these are the theil small specs you were talking about earlier. I would like to know which type of enclosure would be best for these subs. Thanks.

I think that what you bought is perfect. Well, the subs, I dont really reccommend, but I install steros and build boxes, and when someone asks me what to buy without spending 1000's of dollars, I tell them legacy or pyramid amps and audiobahn subs, usually off ebay, and to go with a ported box, which I build, and customize. Definately go with ported tho, it sounds so much better and it depens the bass.

You give horrible advice. You can still a great setup without spending "thousands of dollars." Pyle, Pyramid, Legacy, etc. etc. are literally a waste of money. You might as well just toss your wallet into a fire.

Do i sense an "alp"#2?

For those of you who don't know, alp was a member who ranted and raved about selling everybody legacy and pyle products. People who recommend and sell that stuff to anyone should not be in the business.

Thanks for the advice, but why do they (legacy amps) **** so bad? I just got the amp in today and it looks tight as hell, but i havn't got the subs for a couple of days yet, so i don't know how it performs. I have gotten mixed reactions about which box to use. A lot of people have said sealed because all the frequencies of bass are the same volume and it sounds "tighter". But peeps say ported is better because it lets the subs move more, producing more sound and thus getting the most out of the subs, but it isn't as tight. so i am still undecided.

i had a cheapass setup .... 2 performance teknique 12s *100 bucks for the pair, 800-1kmax watts* pushed by a 1600 watt pyle *200 bucks, about 1100watts @ one ohm*

the amp would cut off after an hour and a half of play so i put fans on it. no problems whatsoever. runs 1ohm stable, doesnt blow fuses, shitty wiring install of 8guage straight copper thick thread bent around the doors and run right next to the RCAs and gorund.

i hooked it up and my friend with a JBL 1200.1 and 2 L7s was like ....... "man i know thats not that cheap equipment, its as loud as mine" same sealed enclosures .... i dotn get the hype about the name brand.

ive owned a few cerwin vegas, nakamichi amp, JL subs, MTX, fogate old school amps, fosgate subs ....... i have to say name brand aint worth a shit. i havent noticed a big difference in SQ:SPL ratio in any of the brands. id bet your setup will pound. tell us how it sounds. im in no way saying high end brands are crap ..... but if a 10cent amp part is spec'd to handle so much voltage, why use a 5 dollar part just in case instead?

i don`t now about boxes but Volfenhagen 12" subs is good choice !!!

i know exactly what volfenhaag subs you have. i had a pair of them in i think 1 cube each sealed (prefabbed back in the day). They got kinda loud with a Vibe1000d amp on them but the SQ on them was not good at all. I mean if you are looking to get loud then you bought ok subs for the price. i think they will take like 300 rms each or so. i'd say keep those guys in a sealed box though.
