Box question?

I'am currently building a box for 2 12' Type R's and they are reccommended for a enclosure of 1.0 cu ft, so would my box have to be 2.0 cu ft being i have two? also what happpend if thier in a smaller box than reccommended? or in a larger one?

The box would be a total of 2 cu. ft, 1 cu ft per chamber. If its too small the subs may not preform well, and the bass will sound sloppy/cut off, A lil bigger will get more bass, too big may/may not cause probs. with the sound.
