box design for omega 12

so i recently made a box for my omega using RE's program. if i recall correctly it was 2.5ft tuned to 35 hz, but i tried larger port area, it was about 16 square inches per cubic foot..

well it sounds like doodie, its not very loud, and its pretty loose sounding..just not good.

so the redesign comes..

im thinking 2.5 ft again, tuned to 38 or 40 hz, this time trying about 14 inches of port per foot..

sound good? sound bad? maybe try aeros? halp!

...maybe it was the construction?...and I would double baffle and add supports into the design if you didnt and with my taste, I would tune more like 32-33Hz...and 16 sq inches per cube isnt too much...that's what I would aim for

I had a single 12 in 2 cubes, tuned to 32. Sounded great.

ive had it for a few weeks. yeah it does need more break in time, but ive had new subs before..this one just sounds like ass..but i know its not the subs fault. its the box.

but the box is double baffled.

maybe ill give the 2 ft at 32 hz a shot and see what happens..

^yea, that'd be a better bet...and if youre using the re audio calc, get the specs to about 2.2 cubes and tuned to 31Hz...then double baffle it, then once you drop in the sub and count in the double baffle you should be at about 2 cubes and 32Hz...

You will probably like that two cubes at 32. I was crammed for space before and ended up putting a couple 12's in like 4 cubes. Im guessing i ended up with 1.8 per sub after that. I used aero's and my tuning is around 37 i bet, maybe 38. It lacks on the low lows, hits the 40hz tones pretty **** good though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I was going to try for 2.2 cubes per sub with a new box, tuned lower because i have some space now.

i keep thinking about this. and i am more of a metal head than anything. somewhat worried i wont like tuning so low..yeah, still havent rebuilt the box
