why do you make the groove?

Its for carpeting reasons basically. Check out my carpet tutorial thread, it will make more sense then,

I like the orange on this box, but with black carpet, i think white would look best.

White wouldnt show up very good on bare boxes, and possibly medium gray. But would definitely look good on black.

Its a 3/8" rabbit, with a 1/4" deep groove. That leaves the 1/8" gap, and that is where the carpet gets tucked. Does that answer it for you? Im not exatly sure what your asking.

And yes, PV is right. 95% of the boxes I build, have the inset sides and the router technique.
